Not only do people spend less time than they should on cleaning their teeth, but for the time that they do spend they tend not to balance out the brushing equally between the four parts of the mouth. You might start enthusiastically, giving the first quarter of your mouth a great brushing, before rushing through the remaining parts of the mouth. This means that not all your teeth get adequate attention, and those that you brush over too quickly are more vulnerable to attacks from plaque. Toothbrushes with an included quad timer will let you know when you should move your brush to a new quarter of the mouth. This will go a long way to to ensure all of your teeth get the amount of brushing they require, and won’t miss any decay-causing plaque bacteria.

Third on the recommended feature list, is rotation. You see, in quite a lot of sonic electric toothbrushes currently available, the brush head only oscillates. The best toothbrushes oscillate, but also rotate at the same time. This is very important, as clinical trials have recently shown that sonic electric toothbrushes that rotate as well as oscillate actually remove 10% more plaque than those that don’t. This actually leads to a 20% less chance of suffering tooth decay or gum disease. Lastly, we also advise looking for a toothbrush that has a fast charging battery. The battery life of the majority sonic toothbrushes now lasts a good time (definitely long enough for vacations), however an all too common problem is the length of time it takes to give it a full charge. On some brushes, this can mean a ludicrous 17 hours! This means if you find that your toothbrush battery has died when you wake up in the morning, there’s no way you’ll be able to charge it for long enough to clean your teeth before you leave for work. This is a definite annoyance for people who aren’t able to leave their brush on charge all the time. The good thing is that many newer brushes will charge much faster now. Accordingly, you can get brushes available that you can charge fully in just half the time. This is a lot more useful; all you need to do is place your brush on the base station before you go for work, and you’ll have a fully charged brush when you are ready to use it again.
